Carter Building
Project Overview
The Carter Building is an icon of downtown Hattiesburg, named after John Prentiss Carter, who served as Mississippi’s lieutenant governor from 1904 to 1908. The six-story, 100+ year old building has been completely renovated to house multiple lofts and retail and office space on the first floor. The buidling houses Hub City Lofts.
Our Role
Purchased two vacant buildings America and Carter. These buildings had pigeons flying in them with busted out windows, rotten floors etc. Used Historic tax credits, new market tax credits, CDBG loan, Trustmark bank debt and equity to finance the transaction. Branding exercise to come up with the names of the buildings. Turning point in the redevelopment of downtown that we look to take to the next level with Hub 2.
52 loft apartments, 12,710 sq ft commercial space, 43 adjacent parking
